Blog vs. Wiki
Blogs and Wikis are similar to each other but at the same time, they're very different. According to Darren Rowse, author of the article "What is a Blog?", a blog is a "website in which items are posted on a regular basis and displayed in reverse chronological order." It can include text, images, and links to audio and videos. A wiki is website where people can collaborate and choose to contribute. Daniel Nations, the author of "What is a Wiki?" compares a wiki to a newspaper by saying that "Imagine you are the editor of a newspaper and it is your duty to get the newspaper out the door every day. Now, each day, the articles in the newspaper are going to change...However, much of the newspaper also stays the same. The name of the newspaper, for example. And, while the date might change, it is going to be the same date on every page for that issue of the newspaper. Even the formats remain the same, with some pages having two columns and other pages having three columns." In essence, a wiki is comparable to a newspaper because of how entries are constantly created with new content but the format and name remain the same.
Blogs and Wikis are similar and different in many ways. They both are websites that are managed by a user. However, the difference is that a blog is managed by one user while wikis are contributed by multiple users. Blogs are similar and comparable to journals while wikis are similar and comparable to newspapers. Both wikis and blogs contain content such as pictures, videos, and other content. The purpose of blogs is to communicate opinions and information and the purpose of wikis are for people to collaborate on a project.
