Blog: Social Networking Sites
After looking at Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Linkedin, I have different impressions about each of them.
My initial thoughts on Facebook is how simple it is to navigate through the site. Everything is very easy to find and very easy to learn how to use. Facebook allows users to share their thoughts, videos, location, etc., with others. They also have to option to tag friends they've added in other peoples' posts and videos. It is also possible to create different groups exclusive to those that have been added to it.
Twitter is a great platform to share news and other events. One of the things about Twitter that stands out most to me is the hashtag function. It is so easy to filter out and focus on certain posts about certain topics. Because of this, I think it is more useful to share news and current events. The layout of the site seems to be more difficult to navigate than Facebook because of the many different tools you can use regarding tweets.
The majority of Instagram seems to consist of mainly pictures and videos, rather than written posts that Facebook and Twitter utilizes. Users have the option to post pictures, videos, stories, and send messages easily. Like Facebook, it is very easy for a first time user to navigate. It is also easier to send messages to people in Instagram because of the fact that it has a whole section dedicated to message where one can utilize the whole screen. People use Instagram more for sharing their social lives than anything else.
Linkedin is a platform where more professional people are active on than any of the other three social media networks. The main thing that stands out to me about Linkedin is the function for users to be able to upload their resume onto their profiles for different companies to browse through. Also, the fact that Linkedin allows users to apply for jobs on its network is a huge advantage.
